In an ideal world, we would all have small wind farms in our backyards that generate exactly the amount of energy we need to power our homes. But let’s face it, that’s pretty tough to do. However, anyone can purchase renewable energy credits. Calculate your personal carbon footprint with our online calculator.
How do RECs work?
By purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), you are supporting clean energy and displacing emissions associated with fossil fuel powered electric generation. For a one time purchase, we’ve done the calculation for you—the average US household consumes about 11,000 kilowatt hours (kWH), which is the same as 11 Megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually. Learn more about national energy use through the Energy Information Administration.
